Gypsy
Have
you ever heard of an allergic horse? Meet Gypsy, my 13-year-old
Quarter Horse mare, who seems to be allergic to everything
“summer.” From June through September, I give her Benadryl
everyday, bath her often with special shampoo, braid her tail,
administer medication, and apply a special fly spray to keep her
from rubbing sores on her belly and itching off her mane and tail.
That’s the only reason we both like winter better than summer. It’s
a good thing I love her.
My granddaughter, MaKenna, has started taking lessons on Gypsy and a friend of mine has been riding Gypsy with thoughts of maybe showing her this year in beginning novice events. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
